AWR, Bariatric and General Surgeon

I’m pleased to introduce myself and announce the commencement of my private practice in General Surgery, with a subspecialty focus on advanced Abdominal Wall Reconstruction (AWR), Complex Hernia Surgery and Bariatric/Metabolic Surgery. I have rooms at Williamstown Specialist Centre, 87 Ferguson St Williamstown, VIC 3016.

I completed my medical and surgical training in India over 30 years ago and bring extensive experience in complex abdominal wall reconstruction, bariatric surgery, and advanced laparoscopic techniques. Over the past decade, I’ve focused on multidisciplinary approaches to complex hernia and metabolic disease management.

I’ve had the privilege of contributing to the evolution of hernia surgery globally, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region. As a key contributor to the pilot eTEP ventral hernia surgery paper in Surgical Endoscopy, I helped introduce a technique considered transformative in the field.

My academic and educational contributions include keynote lectures, live surgical demonstrations, international collaborations, and numerous publications in AWR and bariatrics. I am the Founder President of the Abdominal Wall Reconstruction Surgeons Community (AWRSC), a 6,000- member international group. I continue to teach and conduct research as Professor of Surgery at two universities.

My clinical practice includes:

  • Laparoscopic and robotic repair of inguinal and primary ventral hernias
  • Complex and recurrent hernia surgery (incisional, parastomal, lateral, mesh-related)
  • AWR in difficult situations, including the use of innovative techniques like Fasciotens and Botox
  • Laparoscopic/robotic bariatric/Metabolic Surgery (Sleeve Gastrectomy, Gastric Bypass, SADI-S, revisional surgery, complication management)
  • Minimally invasive surgery for gallbladder disease, GORD, and multiple GI conditions
  • Elective and emergency laparoscopic abdominal surgery
  • Routine general surgical procedures

I remain committed to mentoring surgical trainees and fellows, and to collaborating closely with GPs and multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal, holistic patient care. New referrals are currently seen within 1–2 weeks.
